(I am sorry for my title there.)

Once again, the most learnt language in this earth is English. More and more people try to speak this language even they have to try very hard. They are very optimistic that by mastering this language they will hold the world easier. That’s true indeed.

Apart from the ease offered by this language, it is also fact that many people get frustrated when learning this language. It is very hard even just to memorize some words. The grammars are really ‘suck’ and the different pronunciation from the real writing is also making headache. It takes times is another case as well. So because of these, the frustrated learners will call the English ‘f**k’. How comes?
Well, learning different language than our mother tongue is hard anyway. And this is true. If we have no strong motivation from ourselves and learning a second language could be a disaster for us. Motivation is the main reason for me to learn this language.

‘Why I must learn this language?’ and I must be able to give clear and motivated answers for this question.
I had ever had a friend who was very motivated to study English because of the promotion he had in his hotel. And then, just with a very hard effort almost everyday, he eventually could speak this language in less than a year. Just say he was learning from zero. Reading, speaking, writing, listening were all done in one or two hours everyday.

I hope this experience will motivate you, my friends.

Kind regard
Adin

There are on the net, some interesting projects to help people to learn English:
Basic English - http://ogden.basic-english.org/
VOA Special English - http://www.voanews.com/english/news/
Simple English - http://simple.wikipedia.org/
Special English - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special_English
Specialized English - http://www.feba.org.uk/ and obviously spotlightradio.net

All these projects were inspired by the philosopher Charles Kay Ogden.
He sustain that one can learn Special English (a subset of standard English) in about seven weeks, instead of seven years by following a regular standard course of English.
He say the majority of people don’t need more than 850 words to communicate every day.
I’m trying to learn English using his system.
These 850 words, obviously, is only a first approach to the language, I personally find it very interesting.

Is there someone that knows Special English?

Hi,
I’m following VOA Special English program and I find it very interesting. Also it was a pleasure to know a web site like spotlightradio.net.
About your question, I am trying to improve my English using some ipod recording, like reading downloaded from sites like this and I listen them during my working travel by car in the morning or in the evening, at the end of the working day.
I’ll appreciate any suggestion of improving my English.
Regards!

Hi ccbridge….. (good name)

Nice to know you here. It’s like your name “bridge” it seems that it will cross/bring you to the mastery of English much better at the end of the bridge you use to cross. I like the way you do with your time with VOA Special English program. I do it too. that’s really helpful. listening, then recording, then playing owned recorded voices are such a very lovely way of learning. I love it.
Btw, your English is very good.

Hi Adin,
I was very glad this morning, after turn on my computer seeing new message for me from anywhere in the world.
It could be interesting to know more about the people that uses this virtual point of meeting, what do you think about? Of course I mean general things like which town they live, what they do or think about some daily problem of their country: it could be an indipendent source of news!
Have a nice day or night, it depend in which part of the world you live!
Regards.
