My greeting to everyone in Spotlight’s community.

It has been a half of year since the last time I logged in this community. Now, when I come back to need to improve my English again. I did not think, or nearly forgot about U (Spotlight’s Community)if I have not fail in this afternoon interview on 08th February 2010, although my English is not bad, it was sad.

However, I am still happy to join back.
I have some experiences in learning English, for Grammar and Reading, at my country (Vietnam, I’m a Vietnamese too), we did it well. However, at speaking and listening, they are big problems to all of us( people who learn E in Vietnam) because all the teachers always tend to teach Grammar and Reading,  by themselves cannot speak E well too.

So, I, myself had to learn by my way, I tried as much as possible to talk to foreigners, and I was lucky, then I could be confident to talk to all foreigner, listened and understood what they said.

Do not worry if U don’t understand any word, as them again, have them pronounce or at least, give the note-pad or paper and tell them write down that word.

And reading English news, magazines or singing songs.

hello: i agree to the commentaries in this page. It is very important to find rare English topics, by this way we can study and learn not only English. Without a doubt we need this kind of themes to relate the English and learn it easier in certain way.

I hope to continue in this page and study more

Thank spotlight very much. you are an excellent english teacher. I’m Calm from China. I listen the files I like everyday. but I did not find I can improve my language fast enough.Meanwhile I forgot the new words fast enough :( .  Perhaps I need to practice more. Fighting!!!

on this trying to learn English is very difficult for some people because with the passage of the longed they do some more dificult trying to learn a new language and I think that one of the supplements which are used to this are the songs as many people have recorded the parabras much faster and are not difficult to put into practice when

i’m sendy from Indonesia. i was happy to find this program for the first time in radio. then i have already joint to this community and listen a program in Spotlight regularly, one/ day.
I have a bad experience about my english: a month ago, a professor from Japan who encouraged me to apply scholarship in Japan, was disappointed because i wrote terrible assay about my study subject because of my english. Honestly, i was very sad and it was to be worse because my TOEFL score was bad too.
I realized that i need to study hard especially for listening and speaking. Eventhough in my place it is difficult to find person who want to speak english, i’m still hoping to find it while i’m practising listening.

peace be up on all.. islamic salutation..improving my english is   the pivotal and the most important aim in my life so i hope to acheive it sooner or later . in fact spotlight helps me to improve my english so i would like to thank spotlight team sooooo much . but we have to know that is the best way to improve our english is practice practice practice all my teaches advised me to practice ,listening , reading about my favourite fields. also i started to translate and read the english words which are in the label of products whom i use and this method helped me toooooo much .  i ask allah our god to help each one of us to acheive his aim

Hi Steve and all spotlight fans, since i didn’t have any English speaking friends before i used “book reading” techniques. I force myself to read read and read lots of books. hard first and really hard and boring but i insisted myself till i found myself as an addict in reading. Reading an English text, any text from the simplest ones as kid books till the scientific ones made me finally enjoyed reading. and you know what, my new vocabularies were reaching more and more. and it really helped me build confidence in speaking. Now i believe this method is really working as i also put my opinion on the general discussion “which coming first? speaking or grammar?” you know, when i feel that i have built my speaking power and i just felt that learning English grammar is just another one step forward and it was not really a serious matter.

I’m glad to joined this programme to improve my English. Some time I thinks english is hard to speak fluently, but after read this topic I think if we try to study hard we will success. Althought my level so bad but I hope will make more friend and we will start to study english together.
