Hello everybody.I have listened spotlight for 2 months. I guess that most of the listeners are willing to learn English,and aren’t native speakers. In this topic,I’ll paste a sentence from a short story,and we will write the words which unknown.Ok? write please.First paragraph of the story is:
The Winepress

“You don’t have to be French to enjoy a decent red wine,” Charles Jousselin de Gruse used to tell his foreign guests whenever he entertained them in Paris. “But you do have to be French to recognize one,” he would add with a laugh.

unknown words are"decent,entertained” for me. Can anyone explain these words?
for example:
entertain: to amuse someone
example:
“You can’t entertain me,I don’t laugh enough!”

don’t understand… only that short paragraph? make it longer plz.

I can understand mearning of word ‘decent’ but I can’t say with you. It very hard for me to explain.
And with ‘Entertain’ I think your undertanding is not true. ‘Entertain’ means receive someone.
ex: If I win lottery, I would entertain people a lot of things as wine, food…
