Hi there..

I always emphasise one wise quote said ” we are learning from our mistake” and i can make this quote in line with “no genius hatches on bed”.

I love these two sayings and i do believe what i have till this very second is the result of a lot of mistakes i already made in life. Meanwhile, when we study a foreign language and we are supposed to create mistakes. Mistakes make us aware not to repeat the same thing we did wrong. Mistake teaches us to be more careful on something… well what about you?

Hi adin.
It’s true that learning from mistakes help us a lot, not just in learning a language but in our lives. But we should not make mistakes in English. When we make a mistake, we create a bad habit. When we repeat it, we reinforce it. After a couple of times, it become a strong and unconscious habit. We tend to make that mistake all the time in English. And you know, it’s really hard to change a bad unconscious habit like that.
Try to avoid making mistakes. How? by using just simple sentences, sentences that we make sure it’s correct because we saw it many times in the past. Or we can use a good dictionary to use correct sentences. We should not force ourselves to speak or write when we’re not ready for them. Just read books and listen to audio podcasts,... to get more inputs, more correct sentences. Our English will get better over time.

That’s a great idea Namcuahiem… we learn from mistakes. Once again i wanna stress my sentences “Mistakes make us aware not to repeat the same thing we did wrong. Mistake teaches us to be more careful on something”

This is what I mean also when we learn English. Mistakes are very tolerable since the only goal for studying a 2nd language is for communication. Unless the mistakes are very serious, I mean the sentences spoken are hard to understand, and there is our role to correct them. THis is in the hope that the learners would not make the same mistakes anymore.

Best regard,

Adin

Lets just make sure we don’t repeat the same mistake twice or even thrice.

Hi Adin~
I do agree with you. Most people who speak second langauge fluently are not afraid of making any mistakes. They just speak fast and confidently without being concerned of grammars. I really envy those people. I cant do that and I think that is main reason that I can not speak in english like others. You see, when I talk to myself in english, even I get surprised by myself. Anyway, I got to go to bed now. See you soon~

Hi Oldvick and Jennyiam… nice to meet you here.  (sorry if I spelled your name wrongly)...

Once again… mistakes are inevitable in learning a second language. Yes i agree with you Oldvick that the mistakes are not supposed to make again… but just let make it simple; Now the question I need to propose is “what exactly the purpose of one studying the foreign language is?” If it is for academic purposes, such as for studying in higher level in university or for TOEFL, TOEIC, GMAT purposes, etc, well we are not gonna be comfortable when mistakes are repeated… and studying grammars or the structures is a must. But when the communication ability is the purpose, well I guess, mistakes are really tolerable. Even if they are repeated. I am sure and really sure, that the learners are studying from mistakes and gradually, they will will understand and never make the same mistakes anymore….. let time bring them to the fluency…
okay.. thanks Jennyiam for your comment….

best regard
adin.
